GATHER: A Weekly Community Movement and Meditation

Simple rituals and practice to start a day inspired this post. I'm inviting you for a morning of working with the elements, the body, and the energies of earth and sky. Meditation and Tree Breathing follow a form of body movement and breathwork to circulate your connection to the center through a flow of inhale and exhale to the four directions, and the three worlds: Above, Below, and Between.

Marsh Park
2944 Gleneden St, Los Angeles, CA 90039
*I have the black Honda Pilot and the little black fluffy dog, Trixie.

This is a FREE event, as a community offering from my personal practice.

What is Earth Sky Meditation + Tree Breathing?
Earth and Sky Meditation is a simple movement and breath work exercise to connect to the rising tides of energy from the earth, and the sky. The tides of life and light, dark and change. To balance them in the body.

Tree breathing is an exchange of breath and energy wisdom with one of our relatives. There are a variety of trees in the Elysian Park, as it is an arboretum of sorts, including trees from around the world. The particular area I like for these types of walks is full of Eucalyptus, Oak, and many-many others.

How we work

  • Beginning with the body and stretching, moving, and slowly stimulating our senses. Grounding and then exciting our energy through breath.
  • We breath through our feet, our hearts, and our heads, drawing in the energy of the three worlds: Below, Between, and Above
  • Starting in the North we bring in the earth energies, and then East/Fire, South/Air, West/Water. Continually moving back to the heart space.
  • We move the energy through breath and movement, feeling and knowing the element and the light in our being.
  • We finish with tree breathing, connecting to trees and creating an experience of inhale and exhale with the Green.

Why gather?
Morning practices are a great way to set the energy for the day, and by connecting to nature we help feed the cycles and tides magickal movement in our bodies.

It's also an opportunity to connect with locals in an conscious, magickal, nature space.

Accessibility notes:
This is not a formalized ritual.
This is a bit like Qigong, small movements, breathing, energy work.
This is not a hike, but the LA river path is right near us. Let's have a drink or break fast after!
Some paved walking areas, some grass, where we will be working.
Mindful children and socialized dogs welcome.
No food or drinks provided.
We are a QTPOC + Allies safe space.

See you then!

Cross-Quarters: Imbolg - Stoking the Sacred Fires

This is an educational + Ritual + Community opportunity. Learn about cross-quarter magick, connect with community and nature, explore how it is relevant to our lives and community now.

Many modern pagan traditions are reconstructed from older, often European folk festivals and celebrations. This second seasonal event we offer looks at the cross-quarter gates, the fire festivals, Imbolg (i-MOLG) or St. Bridget's Day. Our Gather is around stoking the fires of life with the Light-Tide as we begin to move towards spring.

GATHER: Autumn Equinox

Our GATHER has come back around and we return to one of our favorite parks to Gather Autumn Tide energies and explore in a contemplative ritual format.

Gathering together again to create a Magickal space for the Autumn Equinox. We're launching off the Wheel of the Year teaching from the Mystery traditions, and soaring on ritual to form an altar out of found things, to create the space of Mabon, letting things fall.

We have a hard time with letting go, releasing. We culturally exult birth, preservation and the life and light tide. On this day we will focus on the wanning light and life tide, and on letting go, by focusing on what leaves. What was full and now decays...

What does that mean to release? What does it mean to "let go" magickally with the earth? How is that balancing for our own personal alignment, and potentially to the earth and life around us?

CANCELED: Gather - Journey and Trance with the Waning Light - Crescenta Valley Park

Time comes again to Gather as edgewalkers, mystics, and magick makers do to journey with the sun towards those harvest energies.

This July we will Gather in the Park honoring that process, in a stand of trees on a journey downward and inward.

We will also be scavenging and assembling our outer altar and sacred circle, triangle, spiral... whatever our shape becomes that we will send into the waning tide of light

Dark Moon Community Circle with Blue Jaguar [is] Love - East Hollywood

Dark Moon Community Circle

June's Dark Moon Gather was incredible and powerful - thank you for all of you who shared space and hearts! We held such loving, healing and playful conversation. The next dark moon is soon upon on us in a few days  -- however given the July 4th weekend, we will be holding this gathering on Tuesday July 5th, in case folks are out of town or otherwise occupied this weekend.

One of the suggestions that came up last month was to do some collective ceremony together this month -- so, for this, please bring:

  • 1 candle (a color that speaks to you)
  • 1 item that represents what you are wanting to GROW more of in your life right now
  • 1 item that represents what you are wanting to SEE more of in the world right now
  • (you will be able to take these items back home with you)

We will be designing and holding sacred space together that evening so how it unfolds entirely depends on who is in the room. I have found that collective ceremony in this way can be super creative and playful, as well as deeply moving and connecting.

As before, LA Queer Healers will be partnering with the Temple-LA meet-up group on this gathering and look forward to growing more interconnected and interdependent practice. We are building queer spiritual community!

Our next Dark Moon Gather will be on Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30pm at my space in East Hollywood (RSVP for address).

How can we offer up collective healing to our social and political spaces? How are we caring for ourselves and others during this time? How are you giving yourself the space to grow more into your beauty, strength and power?

This is Free space and in the spirit of our Meditation + A Potluck meet ups, this will also be a potluck.

Bring yourself, a friend, a question (or a hope) and some food to share. Whatever you bring will be enough. Note: This is an open space and all are welcome to participate -- and do not have to be queer or trans* identified to attend.

Please RSVP via:

  • Center For Spiritual Living - La Crescenta (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

I am excited to be a part of this amazing event once again. This time I join the Center for Spiritual Living under the Temple LA banner, and with allies in magick. I am pleased to announce that fellow Magick Makers Stephanie Syd Yang of BlueJaguarislove.com, and Ambar Arias of @ShopManzanita will be joining me.

About Stephanie Syd Yang, Blue Jaguar is Love

Stephanie Syd Yang / Blue Jaguar is Love: I am a mixed race (Taiwanese, European-American), queer healer who believes that community transformation begins by first accepting where we are, who we have been and then dreaming into what can be. The medicine I offer the world is deeply rooted in my relationship to the earth, the 4 elements and the magic we co-create with them. As a healer, I weave together shamanic and earth-based practices that are grounded in Buddhist principles of interdependence, impermanence and karma. My work focuses on the lived and inherited experiences of women of color and queer/genderqueer/trans people. My work also offers spiritual support for eating disorders, relationships + sexuality, and moving through grief + loss. Through my practice, I make Bird Essences (vibrational elixirs), Bird Medicine Candles and will be releasing my next book: Bird Wisdom: Accessing Powerful Messages for Emotional + Spiritual Growth in Summer 2016. Our Center for Spiritual Living family is excited to announce our 2nd Annual “Health, Holistic and Metaphysical Faire."

Our mission is to provide an opportunity to unite health, holistic and metaphysical practitioners as one, to expand awareness and educate the various alternative healing practices that are available to the general public and practitioners alike. This event will consist of a wide variety, of the many practitioners in the health, holistic and metaphysical fields.

I am delighted that we’re going to have in attendance, many of the exceptional healers we had at our last event, and am grateful for their participation, as well as the many new and interesting practitioners and vendors.

Animals are just as important as people, and pets are considered to be part of the family and are healers in their own right; especially dogs who love you unconditionally. We have an animal healer, Lauren Amber Serna who’ll be offering Reiki and IET energy healing services for dogs. Appointment is necessary, so please contact: laurenserna@yahoo.com if you are interested in having a healing session for your dog. In addition, we’ll also have an Animal Communicator, Elizabeth Lee, who uses photos of your pet when conducting a reading. So please, make sure you have a photo of your pet if you’d like to have a session with Ms. Lee.

Having holistic health and metaphysical events helps the general public become more accepting, and open-minded regarding alternative healing options. Our mission is that holistic health and metaphysical healing become more prevalent in today’s society. Holistic health and metaphysical healing is not intended to replace Western medicine, but to complement it.

Some of our healers, vendors and activities include, but not limited to:

Mari Fix - Sacred Sound Artist / Sound Healing and Sound Baths / Music for Meditation / Alternative Medicine practitioner into consciousness, realization, preserving the planet, indigenous ways and the arts

Gather, in the Park: Spring Tides and Full Moons!

Fox Maiden, by Susan Seddon Boulet

Fox Maiden, by Susan Seddon Boulet

This May we will Gather in the Park, We'll have passed through the Cross-Quarter, one of the most magickal days Beltane (astrological, May 5th, recognized May Day or May 1) but the spiraling rise is still with us as we spin into Summer Light. We will also be scavenging and assembling our outer altar and sacred circle, triangle, spiral... whatever our shape becomes on the full moon. Gather is a meditation to commune with the Spirit of place. Chanting. Meditation. And then, seeking found things in the park, assembled into our working craft space. Our Workings vary in flavor but the essential of what we do is bring our own selves into balance with our nature, the nature around us, the light and life tides (also dark and release) into our spiraling bodies. Our simple ritual is invoking the spirit of place
Protection and clearing
Balancing
Communing and spreading that balance out into the land, sky, trees, and roots of our area. DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?

You need heart and attention. A practice of meditation, ritual, and energy work is helpful but I'm experienced, as are some others in our group, with ritual and helping to guide and direct. Temple Los Angeles is expanding but we work with everyone willing to work with us in safe, and respectable ways. Please feel welcome to the work.

WHAT TO BRING
Sacred Objects to adorn the altar
Stones, Crystals, things that aid in your life.
*I may add a special event item, please stay tuned via meetup or facebook pages.

COST: $15.00 (Venmo, Cash, Check or Square) Please do not feel put out if you have limited or fixed incomes. WHAT TO EXPECT
Ritual circle in semi-public space. Depending on weather we may want to dress warm, or cooler.

Ritual and Circle are other forms of meditation, being magickal contemplative spaces that we can use to ignite a mystical experience through deep journeying, gates of power, energy work, and with assistance from The Two Who Move as One, The Great Spirit, and local spirits of land, sky, plant and animal.

Gather: Nature's New Year Imprint Ritual in the Park

The Light and Life tide is rising!

January 17, 2016 1 - 3:00 pm

The next GATHER is off the grid of social media. To come you need to RSVP and get directions to location and what to do/bring.

It will be pre-Imbolc and invoking the energies awakening for the rising life and light tides in our lives.

Usher in the psychic energies of nature to seed for the spring.
What do the light and life tide energies reveal about your life, adn the months to come?

LORE

This time of year we are focused on the Quickening energies of life. What is the potential, what can be felt? It may not be seen as the roots are just readying to push through earth for spring time energies again.

Another name given to this time is Feili Bhride, or the Brigid's Feast. Also, Candlemas, for it is a time associated with the light of candles. The Light is growing and the Spring is coming.

The light tide is expanding even tho winter is still with us...

At this time I have learned through the Temple of Witchcraft Teachings, among other references, that I consider this time of "Fire in the belly." At Imbolc, the fire is building in the belly in the ewe's belly, in our own belly, or in the belly of Mother Earth. We are strengthening the light within us and so the light in the world, while coaxing the psychic imprint that nature reveals in the birth of the green to come, and the birth of light within us.

What to bring

  • Paper, pens, and string will be supplied.
  • Please bring a seven day candle, or candle of your choice to use with the intentional work.
  • Any stones, objects, or special relics you have from your personal sacred work can be included in the altar and circle work.
  • Herbal blend supplied by Scott K Smith

What to expect

  • Ritual circle in semi-public space. Dress in ritual clothing optional. depending on weather we may want to dress warm.

  • Calling the Quarters, the local spirits, and Temple Spirits.
  • Some writing, some small crafting.
  • Meditation.

GATHER: RITUAL & MEDITATION, ERNEST E. DEBS PARK

Our work is Gathering healing and the sacred in Los Angeles.

Our next Gather: Meditation in the Park, will take place at Ernest E. Debs Park. Debs is a great place, in the past we have done meditations, and even outdoor reiki shares here.

Recent tragic events have come to this beautiful place of crow, and raven, with the deaths of two beautiful girls. I would like to hold our ritualized meditation here in this park.

We will hold a semi-formal, guided circle of healing and communication with the Spirit of Place, and hold healing.

WHAT IS THE SPIRIT OF PLACE?

The Spirit of the Land, the two who move as one, and the park itself. These are magickal spaces and gatherings and open to ALL collaborative magick makers, meditators, space holders, healers, and the like who are in accord with the healing work. I work closely with Tonantzin, Hekate, and the Spirit of the land of our area.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE IN MAGICK, PRAYER OR MEDITATION?

You need heart and attention. A practice of meditation, ritual, and energy work is helpful but i'm experienced, as are some others in our group, with ritual and helping to guide and direct.

Temple Los Angeles is expanding but we work with Buddhists, Catholics, Pagans, WItches, Healers, Metaphysicians, green and long in the tooth.

Please feel welcome to the work.
